Art & Paintings
At DC INNS, we love art and the artists who grace our lives with their creativity. Since we opened the Woodley Park Guest House in 2000 and the Embassy Circle Guest House in 2007, we have been building a collection of original works of art – paintings, pastels, glass, decorative ironwork, wood and ceramic. This is not the fastest way to fill the walls and niches of our bed and breakfast inns, but we have always felt that it was better to take the time to find original works of art than to choose corporate art, which is sort of like SPAM in your inbox in our opinion.
What is unusual about the DC INNS collection is that almost all of our artwork is done by our guests. Heather Craig, Beto Rossi, Justina Selinger, Maria Consoli Ianzito, Shoshanna Ahart, Vinnie Nardone, Michael Gore, Dean Evans, and Jay McDougall are among the artists and craftsmen whose work adorns the guest houses - and they are almost all repeat guests and good friends!
Additional pieces from Laura and Raymond’s personal collection, including a glorious painted cape by Washington artist Sam Gilliam and pottery by renowned ceramist Harvey Sadow are part of the Embassy Circle collection.
Crafts & Beautiful Objects
A natural extension of our love of art is our love of beautiful hand-crafted objects, both modern and antique. Our B&B's are filled with antique Persian carpets with color palettes that rival the rainbow. Fine hand-crafted furniture for sitting, sleeping, eating and writing; sparkling glass, warm wood and fanciful decorative ironwork all have their places of honor in our DC guest houses.
