We are delighted you have found our new website and our very first blog entry! We thought we would use our first posting to bring both old and new friends up to date on some of the things happening at DCINNS.com

First of all - the name!

Who and what is DCINNS.com. DCINNS.com is the new web address for your old favorite Washington DC B&B, the Woodley Park Guest House, and your new favorite DC B&B, Embassy Circle Guest House. The owners are the same, the hospitality is the same - only the website address has changed.

A brief history

As many of you already know, Woodley is our first B&B. We purchased it in 2000 and renovated it during much of 2000 and 2001. In the years that we have owned Woodley, we have entertained thousands of guests, many of whom have become great friends, and we have filled the house on a regular basis. A house full of wonderful guests is a great pleasure, but the flip side of full occupancy is that we have often had to tell old and new friends that we are sold out - that there is no room at the inn. To alleviate this problem, we purchase a dilapidated Dupont Circle mansion in 2003 and spent 3 ½ years renovating and restoring it. We finally finished the renovation and opened the spectacular Embassy Circle Guest House in March 2007.

Two is better than one - except where websites are concerned

When we opened Embassy, we followed the pattern that had worked at Woodley. We developed a website for the new B&B and linked it to Woodley’s website. As the months passed however, we realized that our separate websites were not clearly communicating the message.

We now have two great bed and breakfast inns located in two beautiful and convenient Washington DC neighborhoods - and you, our guests, now have two incredible choices.

You can stay with us in Woodley Park at the Woodley Park Guest House, or you can stay with us at the new Embassy Circle Guest House in Dupont Circle.

Uniting Woodley and Embassy Circle under one banner
Given the feedback we were getting from you, we knew we needed a single website that would feature both properties. We wanted the new site to show the similarities of the two B&B’s - both inns have the same family ownership and offer the same awesome, personal hospitality. We also wanted the new site to show the unique distinctions of each property. Woodley is a cozy B&B, known for its warmth and charm. Embassy is an elegant town home, noted for its gracious architecture, spacious rooms and luxurious amenities.

We hired a new website design and promotion team - Allison and Scott Crumpton of Whitestone Marketing. We also hired a great photographic team - Matthew Lovett and Mark Smith of Jumping Rocks Photography. With all this new talent on board we went to work.

The first item was our new name. Now that we have two beautiful bed and breakfasts, we needed a new name to tie them both together. We tried lots of combinations, but Allison came up with the winner - DCInns.com. Short, catchy, descriptive and, we hope, easy for you to remember.

The second item was new photographs. We had never had professional photos of either of our B&B’s, so having a great team of professional photographers in the inns was a lot of fun. What a difference professional photos make! We hope you like them.

The last item was developing new text (content) for the website. This was tough! It was no fun. It took forever. Personally, we hope you really like the content so we don’t have to redo it any time soon.

The new website is finally up and running, so - drum roll please! - we are proud to present www.dcinns.com. We would love feedback from old friends and new. Does it work? Do you like it? Is it easy to use? Can you find what you want? Does it fairly represent us?

Let us know what you think. We’d love to hear from you!
